The Searchers

A couple of months ago I was at an op shop and I found this really great double cassette tape compilation of 60’s pop singles for just 50c. The hilarious thing is that according to the cover its “sensationally sequenced” which is basically 30secs to 1min of each song with a weird DJ stlye mash up to mix each song into each other. Kinda like Yacht Club DJ’s without the shit electro ie. fucking great.

The first band I really got into from the compilation was Mungo Jerry, and my latest discovery is UK’s The Searchers. Sweets For My Sweet is a remake of The Drifters’ 1961 hit, and is pure tropical pop bliss. If you can track down their The Very Best Of, you’re in for some more pop treats and even some garage-y & light psych pop kinda stuff.

Enjoy. I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot more of my 60’s pop cassette tape compilation shortly.
