A few years ago I got really stoned by accident. I’m sure this has happened to the best of us at times….you know…. you start seeing your future before your eyes as your walking down the street….that kinda thing. You can barely look the club bouncer in the eyes let alone pull out your I.D and walk up the stairs. Anyway, on this particular night it was HTRK’s last Sydney show at Spectrum, and Witch Hats were just starting their first song as I arrived. I had never heard of them, but they blew my mind. They were as loud as this music should be, which is actually pretty rare…and really no one has come close to them since. I know I was fucked up, but i’ve seen them numerous times since, sober & otherwise, and they’ve never failed to be amazing.

Check The Centre is/was the first song to appear from the release, and it’s a definite shift in style for Witch Hats. There’s different production style and sound going on… more minimal than their old stuff but somehow with even more tension. It’s fucking great.
